Tasks of Network-Forum

We aim at building a communication structure and culture that is supportive to existing institutions. Thereby, NeFo will complement existing research networks and policy advisory institutions.

The main objectives of NeFo are:

  • Synthesize an overview of the German biodiversity research landscape that is accessible to the science community and the public
  • Improve access to data and results of biodiversity research
  • Facilitate collaboration between the multitude of biodiversity related disciplines and stakeholders by organizing thematic and methodological working groups
  • Strengthen international collaboration and the profile of German biodiversity research
  • Analyze the contribution of biodiversity research to biodiversity related policy and sustainability discourses
  • Highlight societal relevance of biodiversity research
  • Provide an interface between German scientists and international policy advisory processes (IPBES)
  • Support implementation of the German National Biodiversity Strategy and the Convention on Biological Diversity
