Welcome to the website of the German science-policy platform of biodiversity research!

NeFo was set up to improve the information and knowledge flow between the different research disciplines working on questions concerning biodiversity. Furthermore, Nefo tries to raise the awareness of the value of biodiversity among policy makers and the society, and the important role scientists play to analyse the reasons of changing biodiversity, and to find solutions to conserve biodiversity facing land use, climate change and other threats.

The complexity of biodiversity across scales and the interactions with the socio-cultural sphere requires the combination of knowledge of different disciplines such as ecology, taxonomy, economy, sociology, or medicine. NeFo tries to enhance this exchange and to promote scientific results among policy makers and public media.

This platform is an information desk for scientists working for German institutions, German politics and administration as well as German journalists. That is why you will find most of the content written in German. Nevertheless our team interacts intensively with partners on the international level like EU and UN (CBD). Please do not hesitate to contact us.
